Dotted Tips

So I got my nail design from Simply Rins, who made a great tutorial video. She's extremely talented at real nail art (unlike me with my pitiful stamps, hah!) and I learned how to make a design from layering dots together! So easy! Thank you again Rins; your video made this mani go smoothly!

Today's Color Club polish is 903 Get A Clue. Considering that I don't love pinks, this one is actually pretty cute.

Ahem, sorry for the dots. I was so excited about trying out the design that I forgot to take a photo sooner. This took three coats, but I saw some streakiness in the polish. Maybe four would have covered everything, but I draw the line at three (after all, I do have to add dots and a top coat someday).

I have to admit, I originally wasn't going to dot all of my middle finger. . .but I kinda messed it up (pretty badly), so I covered the mistake with more dots! Also, if I get angry at someone, I can give them an eyeful of dots. Haha!

*Nods head* Yep, this mani was definitely fun to wear and easy to do. Two things I like put together.

I'm calling it lace.

This color is 905 Incognito. It's very flesh-colored (almost matches my skin, not that the photos show it well). For a nude color, I like it.

My only problem: I used three coats and I can still sorta see my nail line. I'm not a fan of that. Anyway, this color gave me an idea to make a faux lace look with my Bundle Monster plates.

I decided to add a flower/four leaf clover looking stamp randomly. (Actually, I stamped wherever there was a mistake, haha!) Topped it off with white rhinestone centers for a little umph and ooh-la-la.

I'm satisfied with this mani. Almost feels sexy!

Next up!

I chose a purple color this time, 906 Secret Rendezvous. I'm partial to purples, so I really enjoyed this pretty puppy.

I tried my hand at sponging and the result was just ok. I got my idea from Silence is Loud. She used blue for hers and I like her mani much more than mine.

Amazingly, all of my stones have stayed on and I've been wearing this mani for about four days now. I'm impressed.

The Good, the Bad, and the Fugly.

(Don't expect a good nail design out of this post. It's They're all freaking ugly.)

The Good
So I bought this set of polishes by Color Club recently. It's one of the Alter Ego sets- Reveal your mystery.

Very pastel-y. Good thing I've been wanting pastels. I've decided that my next few posts will involve using these colors (sorta like a swatch/review/design all at once). I know, I'm a genius! *Hah! If only.* Anyway, I chose this pretty little number to go first.

It's 907 Sheer Disguise. (I have to roll my eyes at the names Color Club give their polishes. Kinda dumb to me, but whatever.)

It sure is pretty though. Pale blue, almost gray. Took three coats. Wondered what it would look like matte.
I likey.

The Bad
Tried to stamp white lollipops on top. Piece of shit matte coat. Polish wouldn't stick to it. See the patches?!

Know what's even sadder? I can't even seal the stamps with a top coat because that would defeat the purpose of a matte coat. Geez!

The Fugly
The lollipop was the third freaking pattern I tried. Here was the first one.

FAIL. I wanted to barf. I didn't even bother doing a clean-up because I removed it right after I took the photo. Here was the second attempt.

Double FAIL. My last post looked gorgeous, why the hell does this look like crap?! The ONLY thing I liked out of this whole mess was the color of the polish. It's days like these that make me want to chew my nails off.

Love Letter

This might be my absolute favorite mani. Ever. I did the newspaper/alchohol trick for the first time, and boy do I love it!

Notice how the print is backwards?
I just grabbed a newspaper, a Q-tip, and some rubbing alcohol.
- I looked through the newspaper and cut out strips of print that I liked.
- I painted my nails this gray/biege/cream color by Color Club.
- I took the Q-tip, dipped it in the alcohol (mine was 50% isopropyl), and rubbed it all over my nail. I pretty much soaked my finger.
- I grabbed the newspaper strip, pressed the print onto my nail and just held it there for a few seconds.
- I peeled off the newspaper, gave my nail another rub with the alcohol (some paper stuck to it) and then put a top coat on once it was dry.

It took me a while to do each nail one by one, but I noticed that the print smeared off if I didn't paint it right away. Then I added some pink lips from my Bundle Monster plate and ta-da! I got me a love letter going!

Just trying out some colors

I bought some Milani 3D polish on clearance, and I was itching to wear all of them, so I did.

I really liked the polish, but it was a bitch to take clear photos. The camera wouldn't focus because of the shimmer.

I added a diamond pattern from my Bundle Monster plates with a purple polish.

My favorite color? Green. It had the best holo effect.
